 | Well, its offical, 'A Spell for Chameleon' is being made into a hollywood movie due sometime next year. I am really excited about it, but also a little frightened! What do you think they'll mess up?
The book is waayyyy too long to ever have every aspect put into the movie. I think that they will definitely get rid of the court case where Bink first meets Chameleon, and I think that Bink will probably never make it to Mundania- Instead Trent and Chameleon will just meet up with him inside of Xanth.
I was even thinking that they might chop off the Good Magician stuff entirely by cutting into the book and starting the movie with Bink leaving North Village... Or at least get rid of the three challenges.
 The movie hasnt even started filming and im already getting dissappointed.

| This is most likely true. I mean, just look at the LotR movies. A lot of stuff was cut from those, and the movie was still long. I think the true essence of Xanth might be lost if this movie cut out a lot of the things from the book.

| I don't think they'll chop Mundania or the Good Magician, although they'll probably chop the 3 challenges. And yeah, the court trial will probably be cut, but I don't think there'll be alot of tears shed over that, as they'll probably still have Bink getting Wynne away from the dragon. I doubt they'll have the shade, they'll probably have Bink escape some other way.
Bink probably wont even return to North Village after he sees the Good Magician, he'll probably just leave Xanth straight from there.
Think they'll have Iris? Wormy'll probably cry if they cut the seduction scenes =P I think they'll have her, though, as its fairly important to the rest of the book. Its funny though, how much action Piers crammed into the book when, compared to some other series', its not that long at all.
I bet Cherie will be cut too.

|  I dunno, they might screw up on the dragon scene perhaps. They will cut short the part when Trent and Fanchon and Bink go through the barrier to Xanth.
BTW, how many movies do they plan on making?? all forty??

| They are gonna either censor Cherie and the Harpies with a leaf-bra or something or not include them at all! And from the middle to end, Fanchon, Bink, and Trent are naked. And the peek a book Iris too. Alot will be chucked/ edited!

one thing they can't ignore is the chasm, we'll egg their house for a month if they do. most likley they're going to forget everything but some adventour in xanth, (except for his majesties royal cursing)and most of mundania, which they can afford because they just have to dress up like ppl in the 19's or w/e

| I don't think Xanth will translate very well to film. There's too much... not innuendo exactly, but too much more adult content for many people to be happy with. Also I don't think good sci-fi/fantasy can translate well anyway. It's too in-depth and complicated. Which is good. But Hollywood has all those dumb formulae. Eg every movie has to have some romance.

| I completely agree. There is no way that the movie will be able to convey the mood of the book. If they manage to pull it off then it will be one of the modern day film miracles.
But they will probibly mess it up

| I reckon we should all just hope for the best as the film enters production. There really is no telling what they'll do and how they'll foul up. Either way, as fans and Xanthians we have full right to make our amatuer flicks to compete with. Take that hollywood.

Seeing that this is going to be a PG movie, I dont think that is going to happen. Neither is the Iris/Bink shower scene... But seeing that Bink was the only one naked in that scene, Im rather glad that it wont be included!
